MECCHA CHAMELEON: Can’t Join or Connect? Fixes
Most launch-period connection problems in MECCHA CHAMELEON trace back to two things the developer has already patched. Start here, then work down the list.
1. Update to the latest patch (1.1.1+)
This is step one. Two verified fixes directly target joining issues:
- Patch 1.1.0 fixed an issue preventing players from connecting to online sessions, plus a bug where settings (like camera sensitivity) would reset.
- Patch 1.1.1 disabled the “Join Mid-Session” filter, which was itself causing joining problems, and fixed the participant-count display.
If you haven’t updated, do it first — many “can’t connect” reports disappear immediately. Full change history in our patch notes.
2. Avoid the “Join Mid-Session” filter
The Join Mid-Session option was disruptive enough that the developer turned it off in 1.1.1. If you’re on an older version, joining lobbies mid-match is a likely failure point — update so the filter is gone, or join fresh lobbies from the start.
3. Check the host’s network & NAT
- Max players depend on the host’s connection. The game recommends 2–10 players, but a weak host network caps it lower. Have the best-connected player host.
- Strict NAT / router firewall on the host can block incoming joins. The host can try enabling UPnP on their router or forwarding the required ports.
- Wi-fi vs ethernet: a wired host connection stabilizes lobbies noticeably.
4. General fixes
- Restart the game and Steam — clears stale session state.
- Verify game files (Steam → right-click → Properties → Installed Files → Verify) to rule out a bad install.
- Check server status on the official Steam community page or the developer’s Discord before assuming it’s your end.
- Update network drivers / restart your router for persistent drops.
Still stuck after patching? Connection issues are the #1 thing the solo dev is actively fixing — watch the updates page for the next patch.
FAQ
Why can’t I join my friend’s lobby in MECCHA CHAMELEON?
The most common cause at launch was a connection bug and the “Join Mid-Session” filter. Update to patch 1.1.1 or later (which disabled that filter and fixed the connection bug), then retry.
The match won’t start or players keep dropping — why?
Max player count scales with the host’s network quality. If the host has a weak connection or strict NAT, fewer players can stay connected. Have the best-connected player host.
Where do I check if the servers are down?
Check the official Steam community page and the developer’s Discord for status updates, and SteamDB for the latest patches that may address ongoing issues.
